In what areas do you feel the school needs improvement?
American International School (AIS) Director Steve Razidlo oversees a system of school-sponsored harassment and discrimination toward children with needs and toward children and staff who speak out against abusive policies. The Director and a core team of administrators systematically engage in immoral, unethical, and deceitful practices to run selected children out of the school - fabricating and altering records, not following the school’s own flawed policies as it suits the Director and his team, repeatedly rejecting and dismissing the concerns or requests of unfavored children and their families, denying families access to the learning support program that includes assistance with socio-emotional growth and learning strategies, denying targeted children their right to due process, and retaliating against all forms of constructive criticism or whistle-blowing efforts as Director Steve Razidlo seeks to consolidate his authority to ensure against accountability.

While my review may sound like that of a disgruntled parent, please note that I am an 18-year U.S. Diplomat who has spent a career bouncing around the world as I represent my country – who we are and what we stand for – standing my ground against repressive regimes who advance false narratives contrary to western ideals as they seek to consolidate power at America’s expense. Steve Razidlo presides over the American International School Vienna (AIS) and its diverse global community. He receives U.S. government grants to support our school and its policies. And he uses our nation’s name to attract students who come to the school from around the world with the expectation that certain American values, ideals, and principles will be upheld. He is abusing that trust -- disempowering parents as he authorizes his staff to discriminate against vulnerable children and deny them their inalienable right to due process -- and he must be exposed. After months of extensive research that uncovered a pattern of abuse against "disobedient" staff and "unfavored students," I lodged a formal complaint with the State Department which initiated efforts to improve AIS' ability to work with children of diverse learning needs. In the meantime, however, the director and his middle school and high school principals continue to act with impunity, persecuting children who speak up about director- and principal-led abuses.

What advice would you give to other parents thinking about sending their child/children to this school?
If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to live in Vienna, I urge you to consider the wide variety of international school options the beautiful city has to offer. Even if you have a stellar student who can thrive in any environment, the flawed leadership at AIS creates a toxic environment that negatively impacts the entire student body. Children should be surrounded by authority figures who embody integrity, who possess and project the American values we hold dear, and who seek to instill these qualities in our next generation of leaders. AIS is failing our kids and should be bypassed under its current leadership.
