ASFG is a college preparatory institution. We prepare our students to be successful in the best international and national universities as demonstrated by our college admission results year after year. The American School Foundation of Guadalajara has been accredited since 1965 by AdvancED/SACS CASI. Accreditation is important to ASFG because it reflects our commitment to standards of excellence. We value an external and objective review of the quality of education at ASFG and the school’s commitment to continuous improvement. In addition it is an important benefit for our students as this facilitates the transfer of credit from one institution to another. ASFG hosts a review of its US accreditation every five years.

ASFG’s Mexican program is accredited by the Secretaría de Educación Jalisco (SEJ). ASFG’s high school program is certified by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM) and our high school students receive revalidated transcripts from this institution. In addition, all ASFG Mexican program students receive revalidations from Mexico’s federal institution in charge of education, the Secretaria de Educación Publica (SEP).

ASFG is a member of several education groups with the spirit of sharing ideas, programs, facilities, resources, information, facilities, and experiences. The Association of American Schools in Mexico (ASOMEX) is a group of private institutions committed to offering an American type educational program. ASFG is also a member of the Asociación Jalisciense de Instituciones de Educación Media Superior (AJIEMS) whose goal is to provide a network for private high schools in the state of Jalisco enhancing the opportunities for ASFG’s students and faculty

As a teacher, what are the major plus points for working here?
The American School Foundation of Guadalajara has an excellent teamwork between teachers, administration, and parents, so because of this students are able to both learn and pass their classes with ease. It’s easy on the teacher, because the program allows parents to really interfere with their children’s learning after classes are over for the day.
What areas do you feel are in need of development?
The development that I feel could be improved is the salaries. The salaries for educators from non-US countries are significantly lower.
What advice would you give to other teachers considering working at this school?
The advice I would give to teachers considering working here is that it’s a great place to start if you’re coming from the US to gain experience. If you’re from another nation outside of the US, then the pay may be a problem, but it’s a great environment.
I certify that this review is my own opinion based on my personal experience of this school. I understand that International Schools Advisor may remove this review if it is found to be in breach of the site's Terms & Conditions.
